December started on a Saturday. A bummer for any millennial. Waking up early on a Saturday to do something cool? Sometimes it’s hard (depending on your Friday night).
But it was the start of #MCgivesback Month!
Keying back into the roots of Millennial Chat, you can join us all month in giving back to great non-profit organizations that help give back to our world and communities. Each week a different organization will be highlighted, and we will chat from someone at that organization during our chat hour on Thursdays from 3:30pm-4:30pm EST.
Week 1: Mobilize.org
A great millennial-run organization, Mobilize is built on the fundamental that in order to create long-term, sustainable and community based solutions to the challenges facing our generation, Millennials (young adults born between the years 1976 and 1996) must authentically engage their peers in identifying problems, proposing solutions, and most importantly, must work together to implement these solutions on their campuses and in their communities.
Check out their website to learn more.
But some significant quick hits – Mobilize.org has…
- convened 1,700 millennials in person and over 22,000 online.
- held 11 summits on issues from the lack of financial literacy for our generation, the need to increase community college completion rates, and the challenges facing our returning Millennial veterans.
- and invested over $200,000 in 57 Millennial-led projects. Read more about our investments here.
A fantastic organization! Make sure to join us on Thursday to talk with Megan Emme, a former Millennial Chat Team blogger. We can’t wait to learn more about Mobilize.org.
